Powering the Future of Brick Manufacturing: Our Latest Project with Ibstock Brick

At Leivers, we take pride in delivering robust electrical solutions for the UK’s most critical industrial infrastructure. We recently reached a significant milestone by completing a comprehensive electrical installation for Ibstock Brick.

Ibstock Brick is the UK’s largest brick manufacturer and supplier of brick products and is at the heart of the country’s building landscape. Following the completion of several successful projects with the business across sites in the UK, Ibstock Brick asked us to once again support them with the set up of a brand new manufacturing plant in Wakefield.

The Challenge: Powering High-Precision Industrial Heat

Kilns and dryers are the heart of a brick factory, requiring massive power loads and intricate control systems to maintain the precise temperatures needed for high-quality brick production. Our task was to install the "nervous system" of this new machinery, ensuring every component—from the heavy-duty power supply to the most sensitive field sensors—operates with 100% reliability.

Our Solution: A Comprehensive Electrical Fit-Out

Our team carried out the full scope of electrical works, focusing on durability, safety, and future-proof design:
  • Cable Containment Systems: To manage the vast amount of power and data cabling, we installed heavy-duty containment solutions, including ladder rackscable trays, and trunking. These systems were designed to withstand the harsh industrial environment while allowing for easy maintenance access.
  • Precision Control Wiring: We managed the complex wiring from the central control panels directly to the field devices. This ensures that the automated systems controlling the kiln’s heat and airflow receive accurate, real-time data.
  • Field Device & Drive Installation: Our engineers installed and commissioned all essential field devices and motor drives. These components are critical for controlling the mechanical movement of the bricks through the drying and firing stages.

The Result: Innovation in Motion

By integrating these advanced electrical systems, we have helped Ibstock Brick activate their new capacity. This project supports their broader "Pathfinder" initiatives, such as those at the Atlas and Nostell sites, which aim to reduce carbon emissions by up to 50% through improved heat optimization and automation.

For Ibstock, this means more consistent quality, higher energy efficiency, and a factory ready for the demands of 2026 and beyond.
